The Lions’ Pride Fundraiser is one of our biggest annual fundraising events. Our school depends on the generous support of our community to help pay for everything from math supplies to murals.
This has been an exceptionally difficult year, which makes each and every donation all the more crucial to achieving our goal of meeting every need for every student.
This event is run entirely by La Ballona volunteers, which means every dollar raised supports La Ballona students.
We are excited to announce that our annual Lions’ Pride event will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 2021!
An on-campus event is not feasible this year, so this year’s Lions’ Pride fundraiser will be an online dance-a-thon!
The Lions’ Pride Dance-a-Thon will take place during our regular Wednesday morning assembly on May 19, and will start at 9:30 a.m. Students are invited to boogie, bop, wiggle and hop with their classmates for up to thirty (30) minutes over Zoom and raise much-needed funds for our school!
Visit https://app.99pledges.com/fund/lionspride21 to find your student’s fundraising page or make a donation today
Donations can be made for each minute your student dances OR as a flat donation.
Example: You can donate $1 for each minute Suzie Q. dances. If she dances for five minutes, your donation is $5. If she dances for 30 minutes, your donation is $30.
Example: You can donate $10 to Suzie Q.’s page, no matter how many minutes she dances.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!
Kick-off Assembly Wednesday, April 21
The fun starts on Wednesday, April 21, during Dr. Godbey’s weekly address to students.
Instructors from Diaz Studio of Dance, our event sponsor, will join the assembly to teach students some choreography created just for our event!
Each student will have a personal page they can use to collect donations. Parents, please check your email for a message from the La Ballona PTA. This email will contain a link to your student’s fundraising page and instructions for how to use it.
If you haven’t received our email, you can go to https://app.99pledges.com/fund/lionspride21 and find your student’s page on your own. Be sure to select the page that includes the name of your student’s teacher.
Your fundraising page makes it easy to share your page with family and friends using Facebook, Twitter and email, all at the touch of a button! When you click on the email button, you’ll see a new message with sample text you can use to solicit donations. You can also use the sample text below.
Every student who attends our kickoff assembly on Wednesday, April 21, will receive a glow-in-the-dark wristband, and there are more cool prizes you can earn!
- Collect one (1) donation to earn an orange wristband
- Collect five (5) donations to earn a blue wristband
- Collect ten (10) donations to earn a yellow wristband
Your entire class can earn prizes, too!
- Classrooms who achieve 100% participation (meaning every student collects at least one donation) will earn a pajama day
- The classroom that raises the most money will earn a movie screening with your class via Zoom
The top individual fundraisers can earn more cool prizes that will be announced soon.
Incentive prizes will be distributed at an upcoming materials pick-up event.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 this year. If we meet that goal, Dr. Godbey has offered to do something fun for students, the same way she dyed her hair pink for an event earlier this year. Students can vote for what they’d like her to do by completing the survey below.
Sample Fundraising Letter
Dear friends and family,
On Wednesday, May 19, I will join my classmates from La Ballona Elementary School for a special event: The Lions’ Pride Dance-a-Thon!
Since we can’t get together in person, we’ll be showing off our best moves during an online school assembly. We’re even learning new choreography that was created just for our school!
Will you consider sponsoring me in the Lions’ Pride Dance-a-Thon?
You can donate an amount for every minute I dance OR you can make a single donation. The dance-a-thon will go for thirty (30) minutes, so if you donate $1 per minute and I dance for the full half-hour, that would be a $30 donation.
La Ballona Elementary School relies on generous support from our community to pay for enrichment programs, field trips, and all kinds of other things that public funding doesn’t cover. Please consider making a donation in support of our school!
